Drag & Drop not working

Some users have reported that they are not able to drag and drop audio files onto the turntable. The solution is to set the compatibility mode for the executable to Windows Vista.

Detailed Steps:

  1. Select Vinyl Desktop in your Steam Library
  2. Click the Icon and then Manage > Browse local files Browse Local Files Steam Library
  3. In Windows Explorer Right Click the Vinyl-Desktop.exe file and select properties
  4. Select the Compatibility tab, enable Compatibility Mode and select Windows Vista Set Compatibility Mode
  5. Press Apply and close the properties Window

Note

If drag & drop still does not work after following these steps, try launching the .exe file directly from Windows Explorer, instead of from Steam.

Achievements should still work, as long as Steam is running while the app is launched.

Wayland limitations

Warning

Experimental support for Wayland was added in release v1.0.1, but it comes with an important limitation.

Since Godot (the game engine powering Vinyl Desktop) does not currently support mouse passthrough on Wayland, mouse clicks will not be passed to underlying windows in transparent areas of the app when running the app using the Wayland compositor.
